Beatrice Scaldini
Beatrice ScaldiniFrom an early age Beatrice has benefited from an eclectic range of musical experiences in both Italy and the UK. As a violinist she is equally at home in both the modern and period performance spheres. She is currently pursuing an MA Historical Performance at the Royal Academy of Music, London, studying with Walter Reiter on Baroque violin Mateja Marinkovic on modern violin. She has also recently completed an MMus in Performance and Research at the Academy supported by the Newby Trust Scholarship.
Beatrice has worked under the direction of artists including Leif Segestam, Sir Colin Davis, Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Yan Pascal Tortelier, Tadaaki Otaka, Vasily Petrenko, Rachel Podger, Laurence Cummings, Richard Egarr and Masaaki Suzuki. She has also recently performed with ensembles such as Orchestra Europa, Britten-pears Orchestra, Britten-Pears Baroque Orchestra, Camerata Serafin and Camerata Kilkenny amongst others. She is a founding member of the all-female ensemble Femusa, as well as The International Baroque Players, who were awarded the 2009 Deutsche Bank Award in Performance.
Beatrice also holds a Postgraduate Performance Diploma and an LTCL Teaching Diploma from Trinity College of Music, London, both with Distinction. Previously she studied in the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole in Florence with Boriana Nakeva, graduating with full marks and honours in 2006. In Italy she performed extensively as a chamber musician, and as co-leader of Orchestra da Camera Vincenzo Galilei, working with artists such as Salvatore Accardo, Andrea Lucchesini and Jorma Panula. She also toured Japan in 2005 with Florence Chamber Orchestra. Whilst on a Major Music Scholarship at Cheltenham Ladies’ College she studied the violin with Michael Bochmann and was a finalist in Gloucestershire Young Musician Competition. She was leader of Gloucestershire Youth Orchestra and a member of the first violins of The National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain.
Beatrice has performed concertos by Vivaldi and Mendelssohn with Gloucestershire Youth Orchestra. She has attended master classes with Lydia Mordkovich, Natalia Boyarsky, Thomas Brandis, Ken Aiso and Aleksander Pavlovic on modern violin and Margaret Faultless, Anton Steck, Pavlo Beznosiuk and Rachel Podger on Baroque violin.
Beatrice currently plays on two instruments, a Daniel Parker violin from the Becket Collection and a French violin (c. 1740), both kindly on loan from the Royal Academy of Music.
